Write Templates

Write Templates

In the Tag Smart Content app

Smart content templates are powerful. They put the power of a programmer in the hands of regular people, who don’t want to learn complex tools.

The Tag template editor includes familiar word processing toolbars, along with options to insert logic instructions. Everything is kept as simple as possible.

Reuse your own common fragments, and share useful content with team members. Use templates to capture knowledge about how your team does its work, while speeding it up and reducing errors.

Logic bubbles

  • :- Logic instructions are inserted into text like free-flowing images. These are called logic bubbles.
  • :- Clicking on logic bubbles reveals action buttons (e.g., Select template) that let you edit or view more info.
  • :- Many logic bubbles use expressions and will open an expression editor to edit them.

Decision Tree

  • :- When conditional fragments are used (e.g., if, choose/when) there are many potential outcomes for generated content.
  • :- The decision tree graph shows all possible flows. It provides a visual map between logic and its related content.
  • :- Branches support quick navigation between decision points, and can be collapsed to improve readability.

Clever find/replace

  • :- Converting static text into dynamic smart content can be repetitive (e.g., replace all he/she, He/She, him/her, client name, etc.).
  • :- The Find/replace dialog can replace found terms with static terms, or with calls to a template.
  • :- This dramatically speeds up the process and makes it more likely that you will want to convert more static text into smart content.

Share Common Templates

  • :- Sometimes you have fragments of text that you use on a regular basis. Other times you want to be consistent with other team members.
  • :- Named templates take care of both. You can group them in files and store locally, or on a shared network drive.
  • :- Templates make it possible to define content in one place, including logic that guides how you should be using it.
